BioActive Red Rice are tablets that contain 83.3mg of red yeast rice, the activity of which has been tested and shown to be able to maintain normal levels of cholesterol in the body. This mechanism of action is related to a substance called monacolin K, which influences the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase involved in the body's production of cholesterol.
Red yeast rice is© a rice that has been fermented with the yeast Monascus purpureus, acquiring a reddish ppura color. Red yeast rice contains©a variety of substances called monacolins, each identified with its own letter. However, only monacolin K is© recognized for its ability to maintain normal levels of cholesterol in the body.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) assessed the Monacolin K content and acknowledged the following claim:
Monacolin K from red yeast rice contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels*
